Echocardiogram and other tidbits

We took Sierra in yesterday for her echocardiogram (ultrasound of her heart), and are waiting to hear back the results which should come in a few days. The technician did say that it seemed that things were normal and she didn't see any problems. We took that as a good sign thinking that if the results were negative she wouldn't have said anything. Sierra did well throughout it, (it took over an hour for her to fall asleep and she had to have a dose and a half of the oral sedation), though she was hungry and thirsty since she hadn't been allowed anything to eat since the night before, and no liquid since 7am. We got her up in the morning to get her to drink one last time at 7am, and then had to distract her until we left--we took turns eating so she wouldn't see us, and she had a morning bath and watched Mary Poppins, both very unusual--anything to keep her occupied!
As soon as the technician was done with the test (it took about 20 minutes), Sierra sat bolt upright and starting babbling and reaching for a ball--go figure! She was a little wobbly the rest of the day and we couldn't let her walk by herself (frustrating for litte Miss Independent!), and then slept 13 hours last night. Today she's back to her usual happy self.

Other tidbits...

We are enjoying the slightly warmer weather and are out every day for walks and to play on the porch. This consists of Sierra climbing up and down and gathering as many rocks in her hands as possible, dropping them, and starting all over.

Andre and I had our first meal off the season on the deck Monday night. We were wearing slippers and an extra sweatshirt for me, but couldn't resist. Then we bundled up in a blanket on our swing with hot chocolate and envisioned our yet-to-be expanded garden.

Andre is slaving away through his accounting class, dreading the homework every night as there are concepts he's struggling with. May can't come soon enough for him in that sense! He's also busy planting seeds indoors getting ready for the warm weather and last frost (which could be anytime in WI!).

This weekend I'm going away on my first women's retreat, and leaving Sierra for the first time...I'm actually kind of looking forward to it, and I think the time for Sierra and Andre together will be good.
