Finger Painting

Sierra was bored by 8am this morning, so I tried finger painting with her for the first time. She was curious about the goop and happy making a mess and trying out different kitchen utensils pom pom balls with it. Can't imagine it tasted very good, but she of course tried. It was an easy and cheap homemade recipe...shared below for moms who are looking for something to do with their kiddos!...
FINGER PAINT
Combine and stir until dissolved:
1 T. cornstarch
1/2 c. cold water
Stir constantly while cooking over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil, loses whiteness and starts to thicken. Lower heat and continue stirring about 2 minutes until mixture is very thick and smooth. Cool slightly. Divide mixture into separate jars and color with tempera or food coloring. Left-over paint can be stored in a covered jar in the refrigerator for a week.
To paint: Moisten surface to be painted with a sponge. Deposit a tablespoon of paint on surface and spread the paint with hand. Can use fingers, string, yarn, sponges, or paint brushes (or kitchen utensils!). Cleanup requires only a wet sponge or a paper towel.
