This past weekend Andre and I traveled 9 1/2 hours one way to see one of my childhood - adulthood friends get married. I've been waiting and praying for her to find a spouse since we were in college together, so what a blessing to watch her say her vows! We grew up in Ethiopia together from age 6 on, went to boarding school in Kenya together for highschool, and then were at the same college for our first two years in Minnesota.

Andre and I stopped in Chicago our first night and spent it at the apartment of a missionary kid friend of his. We walked to an Ethiopian restaurant nearby for some fabulous food--though the picture isn't clear of the food. It's my favorite! Then we headed on to MI, and spent our second night after Debbie's wedding with Andre's cousin and her family.

a sample platter of Ethiopian food.
We loved having time in the car to talk and read/listen to books and stop when we wanted (or didn't want!) to. My parents had the kids for the weekend at their house, and the kids had a blast and didn't want us to come home. :) Thanks Mom and Dad!
