So finally tonight there was a tiny patch of ice that the kids could try skating on...the excitement level for this ice rink in our house is palable and contagious by the way! Along with the goals my dad had found a pair of adjustable skates that strap onto Ethan's boots with two blades set a couple inches apart. Sierra was FINALLY allowed to put her skates on and so out we went tonight to test out the beginnings of it. They loved it!

This was from last week...though there's now a layer of ice, nights have developed a pattern that Andre goes out to work on the rink after the kids go to bed. He works out there till the wee hours of the morning sometimes, bundled up, spotlight on the rink, soaking all the gloves he owns as eh works on it. First he's been spraying with a hose, now he's to the point of filling up empty (clean) trash cans with water then dumping it on the ice and waiting for layers to freeze. He's a dedicated patient man!

Sorry, the picture was on my phone and obviously turned out awful! But, you can see the back hockey goal that my dad made and dropped off today.
By the way, we are in need of OLD rugs to lay down on our deck so that we can walk from the door to the rink without ruining skates or deck, so if anyone is looking to get rid of some we'll take them! Or if you've outgrown or no longer use hockey sticks and would like to get rid of those, we'll put them to use. And, if you're in the area and would like to check out the crazy Oldbergs and test the rink, come on over!
