The little man loves to help Andre with digging, hoeing, raking, riding on the mower, etc.
Andre's trying straw bale gardening this year (something he read about), so he found bales for free and dumped them in the garden (since this picture they've been laid out more strategically).
Also this spring, he's been planting seven fruit trees (peach, plum, pear) in our front yard. Each hole is approximately 5 ft deep by 3 ft wide, and takes about 3 hours to dig. He put Sierra in one for fun here.
Add to the digging and planting have been numerous trips (I think it's up to 14 now) to our local "dump" where there is a large pile of free mulch and dirt. He's been re-mulching all of the trees on our property, and the perennial garden. The kids LOVE going with him on Saturday mornings to the dumb, where they put mulch in their little wagon and climb around. This picture they were out helping to pull off the old mulch so he could lay cardboard down first (weed prevention) and put new stuff on.
This is what our dining room/sliding door area currently looks like--we can hardly get out of it there are so many seedling trays and pots. I'm ready for them to get planted! Some are ready, but we're waiting till next week, which is the last "official" frost day.
